Micah Scarbrough

Professor Micah Scarbrough is co-founder and a 2nd degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt at Corsair BJJ in Elgin, TX. He has trained martial arts for more than 28 years, with a background in Muay Thai, San Shou (Sanda) kickboxing, and high school wrestling. After discovering Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2006, he committed the rest of his career to grappling and to teaching BJJ, self-defense, and striking in the greater Austin area.

Micah has served as the striking coach for kickboxing and MMA and has coached competitive gymnastics for 12 years. He also works as a strength and conditioning coach, bringing athletic movement, structure, and durability into every class—from first-class beginners to competitors.

Before opening Corsair, Micah was an affiliate athlete with the World Freerunning and Parkour Federation (WFPF). He hosted the MTV Ultimate Parkour Challenge Crash Tour in Austin, Texas, and was among the first certified movement and parkour coaches in the United States through the WFPF. That movement background still shows up on the mats: balance, timing, spatial awareness, and confidence under pressure.

At Corsair BJJ, Micah teaches Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling and takedowns, and striking fundamentals in a family-friendly academy for men, women, and kids in Elgin, Manor, Bastrop, Taylor, and east Austin. Whether the goal is self-defense, fitness, or competition, his focus is the same: clear instruction, consistent progress, and a gym that people want to stay in.
